Lead actors Erkan Petekkaya and Ayça Bingöl told the details of the film to an AA correspondent.
Actor Petekkaya stated that "Al Beni Baba" was one of the best movie scripts he has read in a very long time and that he was very impressed by the script.
Petekkaya, noting that she read the script in one go, said, "I usually read it for half an hour or an hour and then reread it again, but I didn't give up on this one. It's a very well-written piece. In my own career, I'm an actor who believes in the script first, then the director, and then the actor. So, we started out with a very good project on paper. Our team was great. It's a very difficult job, by the way. It's also very challenging from an acting and technical perspective."
Petekkaya emphasized that the film depicts the situation of a family living on their own in Germany, and said:
The family's daughter falls into the hands of a terrorist organization. I play her father. Then we'll watch the story of that man saving his daughter from the terrorist organization. I believe it's a good film. So far, I think we've shot the most important parts of the film. As you know, if we can't convince the audience in the first 20-25 minutes, it won't happen. Some films or TV series open at the last minute. So, the hardest part is left now. I'm working with some great actors and a really fun team. As an actor, I'm excited. I haven't had a vacation this year, but shooting a film is worth 10 vacations.
Petekkaya, addressing the difficulty of filming winter scenes during the summer months, said, "And I'm filming winter in Germany. I'm wearing wool shirts, sweaters, jackets... I'm acting in 65 degrees Celsius. But of course, thankfully, our crew is doing everything they can to cool us down. It's really difficult in this heat. But the film itself is difficult because there are some difficult scenes. I'm so glad we endured these challenges, so glad we shot them. I'm so glad we had the opportunity to show our children, grandchildren, or those who love us a film like this."
The master actor expressed his pleasure in acting with actress Ayça Bingöl, with whom he shared the lead role in the TV series "Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki" for many years, and continued as follows:
Ayça and I haven't met before. We've never acted together. Ayça is a very important person in my life, a priority. I think I am the same way because of her. I've loved Ayça since the first day, both as an actress and as a person. Ayça and the cast of 'Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki' (Time Goes By) achieved something very important in both our lives. That series was sold to half the world. Half the world saw it. We acted together in a very successful project. On the first shoot, you wouldn't believe it; we were like husband and wife for 45 years. Actors sometimes do things like that. It's very rare. You understand when they're acting. It's very understandable. There's no need for words. It's obvious with your eyes. When I do something, they respond. It's not about who scores the goal. What matters is that the team wins. Ayça and I both think that way.
Petekkaya, noting that his close friends Sinem and Mustafa Uslu penned the script, said, "We've never worked with Mustafa before. I'm grateful to him for considering me for such a valuable film and asking me to star in it. I know both Mustafa and Sinem well. Knowing them well is a huge benefit to me. Of course, the script is also good. Ahmet is a great director. This was my first time working with him. We hit it off at first sight. We have a producer, Kemalhan Bey. He's very young. First of all, he's pure of heart. He's a friend of ours who's dedicated his heart to this project. He started with such a beautiful project. He invested himself, his mind, and his money into it. It's going to be a wonderful thing."
"A film that still has a lasting taste in my mouth"Actress Ayça Bingöl also said that Gülderen, who could not go after her daughter because she was sick, made her feel stronger in her struggle.
The artist, who stated that portraying Gülderen was both challenging and enjoyable, shared the view, "You play despite everything and try to tell the story of that mother's struggle. In that sense, it's appetizing."
Bingöl also pointed out the challenges of the digital age and provided the following information:
"As a parent, I had a hard time, too. I tried to adapt and at the same time protect my children. I believe that we can protect our children only when we can talk openly and share everything with each other with complete trust, completely honestly. That's why I'm in favor of open communication and certain boundaries."
Bingöl, noting that the filming was done in a single location, said, "That's why it was comfortable for me. It was also a pleasure to work with a crew and cast I know and love so much. I still remember the joy. For example, I'm filming my last scene today, and I'm finishing up my filming. If I had a little more work, I would have worked for a few more days. We were very sweet. The film will linger in my mouth. I'm looking forward to watching it on the big screen."
Stating that they worked very well with actor Erkan Petekkaya, Bingöl continued:
"The synergy between us, both in terms of acting and our communication, has always been very positive. I think this reflects in our work. We enjoy acting with each other. For example, when we were filming a scene together, I realized how much I missed acting with him. Or I missed those wordless moments we had long ago, when we looked into each other's eyes and sensed what we meant, even though I hadn't experienced them with any partner in a long time. This was very good for me as an actor."
Bingöl emphasized that she's reunited with the team she previously worked with on "Müslüm," saying, "Because it's a team I've met and worked with before, the comfort of being with very familiar people and knowing that we have a solid place in such a scenario is a boon for an actor, even from a dramatic perspective. I'm lucky in that sense."
The film "Al Beni Baba" is scheduled to be released early next year.
